Independent software assurance
SecondMark is an independent assurance firm for complex, autonomous, AI-engineered, and unprecedented software systems.

The assurance problem, in motion
From incomplete knowledge to an evidence-bound opinion.
A cinematic account of the SecondMark method: define the system, trace the claim, qualify consequential behavior, and keep every limitation visible.
Built and rendered from the local remocn motion system. No client work, certification, or outcome is implied.
The new object of assurance
The old audit was built for a different kind of software.
As AI becomes a primary producer of production software, systems will become larger, more complex, and increasingly novel. Their stewards may understand architecture and intended behavior without possessing complete knowledge of implementation or emergent behavior.
A code review alone cannot answer whether such a system is trustworthy. Assurance must connect intent, implementation, runtime behavior, controls, evidence, and the conditions under which confidence remains valid.
Our remit
Systems outside the standard playbook.
We focus where novelty, autonomy, and scale make conventional review insufficient.
All services ↗AI-engineered software
Assurance for systems materially produced or coordinated by machine intelligence.
Explore assurance ↗02Autonomous systems
Evaluation of runtime authority, boundaries, escalation, and recoverability.
Explore assurance ↗03Complex platforms
System-level assurance across distributed state, dependencies, and operations.
Explore assurance ↗04Unprecedented systems
Disciplined judgment where no mature standard or comparison class exists.
Explore assurance ↗How we work
Follow the claim. Challenge the system. Preserve the evidence.
Our work adapts to the system. The standard of independence does not.
Establish the system thesis
Define the decision, material claims, intended behavior, and authority.
↗02Fix the assurance boundary
Identify the exact system, environment, versions, dependencies, and exclusions.
↗03Map and challenge evidence
Connect every claim to direct, contradictory, missing, and contextual evidence.
↗04Qualify consequential behavior
Test the complete system where behavior, authority, and failure emerge.
↗05Issue an independent opinion
State what is supported, what is limited, and when confidence must change.
↗The second mark
An opinion that says exactly what the evidence can bear.
SecondMark does not promise that failure is impossible. We provide an independent, traceable view of whether defined claims are supported—and where confidence must remain conditional.
How opinions work ↗Supported
Evidence supports the defined claim within the stated scope and conditions.
Qualified
The claim is supported except for a material limitation stated in the opinion.
Unsupported
The evidence does not support the confidence proposed for the claim.
Insufficient evidence
The available record cannot support or refute the claim responsibly.
Consequential systems
Assurance follows authority and consequence.
Domain context changes the evidence. It does not lower the standard.
View all sectors ↗Independence
Close enough to understand. Separate enough to judge.
Independence is not distance from the system. It is freedom from the incentives that shaped it. We define the assurance boundary before the work begins, separate evidence from advocacy, and make limitations visible in the final opinion.
- 01Scope agreed before conclusions
- 02Evidence traceable to source
- 03Material limitations disclosed

The unit of consequence is the operating system—not the repository alone.

Why Sidiora
Built from the reality of engineering with machine intelligence.
Sidiora has firsthand experience using AI to develop complex production systems through a controlled engineering process.
Not by generating disposable code, but by coordinating machine intelligence, architecture, verification, human review, and qualification. SecondMark turns that operational understanding outward: an independent assurance practice for the systems this new way of building will create.
